Spiritual Conflict 5 Fighting with Truth

Spiritual Conflict 5 Fighting Well
Ephesians 6:10-20

How does one stand firm and fight well?

1. Fasten on TRUTH v. 14

John 18:33-38

What is Truth?
Truth - Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.

REALITY FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE

John 1:17
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

John 14:6
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 17:17
“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”

John 4:24
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 8:31-32
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘if you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”

John 14:16-17
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him.”

John 16:13
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth…”

1 Timothy 2:3-4
“This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Isaiah 59:14
“Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.”

Jeremiah 7:28
“And you shall say to them, ‘this is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.’”

Isaiah 59:15
“Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.”

Isaiah 44:9-20

Man’s reaction to truth:
2 Timothy 4:3-4
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”

Romans 1:18
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.”

Acts 20:29-30
“I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.”

Romans 2:8
“…but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.”

Romans 1:24-25
“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creators, who is blessed forever! Amen.

John 18:37
“Then Pilate said to him, ‘so you are a king?’” “Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this purpose I have come into the world – to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”
